Silambattam Preview

Tired of playing romantic hero who takes to the revenge mode, Silambarasan plays a temple priest in 'Silambattam'.

The movie is about a temple priest, who, due to circumstances, is forced to take law into his hands. It will be the 25th film for the Lakshmi Movie makers, a renowned production house.

It is also cameraman Saravanan's directorial debut. The film will have a mix of classical songs, including a re-mix song from 'Thiruvilayadal', and some hip-hop numbers by Yuvan Shankar Raja.

A new face from Mumbai, Sana Khan is being introduced in 'Silambattam'.

After 'Kaalai' which proved to be a disaster, Silambarasan has chosen to go on a quiet mode.

The actor, who is otherwise known for his open talk, has resolved to maintain silence until the release of 'Silambattam'.

Thrilled to work with Silambarasan, Saravanan says, 'he is a bundle of energy. He is the apt choice to play the lead role in 'Silambattam'. The movie is loaded with action and sentiments. Hopefully it would release soon'.

Silambarasan said, 'I was initially reluctant to act in this movie. I was in doubt whether a cinematographer can manage to come up with a good entertainer.

However Saravanan narrated the story to me and I was fascinated. His dedication to excel and the thirst to come up with a quality product impressed me'. 'Silambattam' is a movie about a timid youth who is forced to take arms. 'I play a temple priest who leads a simple and pious life. Situations force the young man to go the other way. He takes up arms to teach the evil men a lesson.'

'Silambattam is a movie that can be watched by the whole family. I did movies targeting the youth till now. But I guess time has come for me to render films that appease women and children', he says.

A major portion of the movie has been shot and is gearing up for an early release.

Silambarasan on Kaalai

Good news for all Silambarasan fans- his latest offering Kaalai is all ready for release and will be censored tomorrow. The actor while speaking on the film said, “Kaalai has come out really well and is aimed at pleasing all my fan’s aspirations. The film is a full fledged entertainer and is targeted at the masses.

On the music department, G.V. Prakash’s tracks have fulfilled my expectations and am overwhelmed by the response it has been receiving. In fact the audio sales of the film is testimony to this. The background score is thumping and will lend the desired impact to the film. I am all pumped up about the film and am eagerly awaiting the audience’s reaction. It was a enjoyable experience working with director Tarun Gopi. He has worked hard to bring out this feel.”

Pongal is sure to be a treat for fans of this actor who have been waiting for a movie of their little super star who didn’t have a single release in 2007.

Simbu in Kaalai

Kaalai, Simbu's It is common knowledge that finding heroines for Simbu is a tough job. The amount of confusion and delay that was encountered while scouting for a heroine for Kaalai before Vedhika was finally roped in has already been reported .

But Simbu’s quest for heroines doesn’t seem to be getting any easier. The search for a female lead for Simbu’s next movie Kettavan has been on for some time.

News is that a new face has been roped in. Well, she is not a new face in the real sense of the word; she is actually a quite familiar face for all of you who have been watching Southern Spice Music over the past year or so.

She is Lekha, the bubbly girl who has been anchoring shows on the channel for over a year. Lekha now becomes the second SS Music VJ after Shreya Reddy to make it to tinsel town. Kettavan is scheduled to begin only after Kaalai and will be directed by Nandu. We wish all the best to Lekha and leave you with a question.

Is SS Music becoming a recruiting agency for Kollywood? Too early to say, isn’t it…… we’ll wait and watch.
